Wallet Deposits Disabled

I’ve had a fully verified Bittrex account for several months. Almost no trades there though as I’ve been using other exchanges. Now I want to sell an ICO token listed on their exchange. Every attempt at generating a token address and/or ETH address fails.

Anybody know why this is happening and what to do about it? Is it on Bittrex end or something I’m doing incorrectly? Thanks.

Congestion and slow transaction times in the ETH network reportedly caused Bittrex to disable new address generation for ETH and token deposits. Apparently existing deposit addresses work fine, you just can’t create a new address.

If you didn’t previously deposit or buy ETH on Bittrex, you’re probably out of luck. Blame it on Cryptokitties.

This is still seriously bugging me. I’ve watched an ERC20 token I own rise quite a bit and then fall back 20% while new ETH wallets stay disabled.

Exchanges need to get their stuff together. The Ethereum network needs to fix the delays due to popular but unnecessary dApps like cryptokitties if it wants to be a serious tool for smart contracts. Business won’t come flocking in if the network is unreliable and slow or fees jump around.

Patience. It’s still very early in blockchain development cycle. Of course, that doesn’t help if you’re trying to sell a coin to lock in gains.

The old sage advice about never leaving coins on an exchange carries its own somewhat different set of risks. Namely the inability to quickly sell if desired. It’s all about balancing one’s exposure and risks.

BTW, check out the new forum for Ethereum discussions.

Edited: we merged the previous Altcoin and Ethereum forums to make it easier on users. I had hoped that 3 separate URL’s and member databases could be bridged for one logon, but it never worked as well as I wanted. So now one login ID covers it all.

Update: I still can’t create a new ETH address and deposit anything on Bittrex.

Everyone complains about Coinbase but I think all these exchanges have problems. They need to get things sorted out if crypto space hopes to grow and extend to the mainstream.

I have a problem with my NEO wallet on Bittrex having a red ! Next to the wallet and a similar post stating NEO wallets are disabled due to NEO.

Have you already used that wallet and generated addresses or held balances in them? My Bittrex account has never been used, so the first time I went to deposit an ERC20 token to sell, I couldn’t generate a new ETH address to send tokens to. But people who already had ETH addresses and balances were fine.

Is the NEO network having problems right now?

According to the search I did on Bittrex NEO does have an unresolved issue going on for months. So I can’t access the NEO to pull it off the exchange, but I think I could Still trade it on the exchange, until the problem is resolved.

Interesting. You could sell the NEO and withdraw the money to another exchange rhat sells NEO to rebuy it.

Fees and tax considerations will come into play though. If you just want to hold NEO, probably can just wait it out.

Did any of thes problems get fixed? I don’t use Bittrex but I did see where they are stopping support for a lot of tokens and altcoins. I didn’t look over the whole list since I don’t use this exchange. Maybe this caused your problems.

My problem was resolved when they started allowing new ETH addresses. I didn’t catch exactly when this happened but it’s fine now. But I missed the opportunity to sell an ICO at a big profit, so I’m hoping for a recovery. It is still listed there.

Funny how everyone complains about Coinbase. All exchanges have their bumps and lumps in my opinion.
