It is just terrible that despicable terrorist organizations are using cryptocurrency in order to raise funds for their awful deeds! They are abusing the qualities of cryptocurrencies to seek donations anonymously, so the money transfered would go under the radar.

I think that crypto exchanges MUST take actions against identified accounts of terrorist organizations and completely ban them because innocent lives are at stake here!

I fully agree, but I can’t imagine how hard that will be. Those organizations are already adept at layering their structures so that stopping one part doesn’t affect other parts.

Now throw anonymous crypto into their laps, and it’s like a funding gift. And in the process of going after terrorists, you’d have to maintain some semblance of leaving legit accounts alone. Otherwise legit customers will take their business elsewhere depending on why they use crypto.

It’s a fine line to walk. I don’t envy anyone trying to sort out the legal and illegal users of crypto’s.

I doubt that the legit licensed exchanges are the ones at fault. If you want to blame someone, blame all the buying bitcoin with cash services out there.

Bitcoin was founded to avoid governmental control. Well, here we have a classic example of how some control is beneficial. But don’t point that out to bitcoin purists who will shout you down immediately on social media.

Correct. You can’t blame the tools used for the activity. Exchanges who use KYC and AML do their best. If customers stick with them, it’s the best way put the sketchier exchanges out of business.
