It's really amazing that in 2018, which was a bad year for cryptocurrencies, ICOs still raised more capital than ICOs had raised in 2017 (15% gap). It just shows that the crypto industry is alive and kicking!

It’s also unfortunate since over 85% of ICOs are either outright scams or result in failed projects right out of the gate.

In fact, many attribute the rapid fall of crypto in 2018 to crypto ICO scams and money grabs. Let’s hope the markets smarten up and stop participating in them, reserving their investment moneys for projects further along in their development.

Yes. A topic near and dear to my heart and pocketbook. ICOs became the scourge of crypto in 2017, and the market took huge hits because of them.

All that lost money could’ve funneled into the large cap coins and projects with actual use cases, propping up prices and keeping interest levels high. Instead, ICOs sucked the life out of the market and stained crypto forever.

May the whole process die and quick but painful death.
