The ex-captain of theAustralian cricket team, Michael Clarke, has beencriticizedthroughthe Twitter platform, after he sponsoredaninitial local currencyoffer (ICO). According to a local newspaper, even a controversyfromthecaptainwhorelayedit has notbeenenough to obscuretherefusal of Clarke's tweet.


Clarke, whocaptainedAustralia's cricket teamfrom 2008 to 2015, has backed Global Tech, anexchangebased in thecity of Brisbane, whichplans to raise AUD $ 50 million (more than USD $ 36.5 million) with a ICO. Thecompanywasfoundedjustover a yearagoby Andrew Mclean and Marlon Donaire.


Althoughanothercaptain, Steve Smith, Clarke'ssuccessor in thecaptaincy of thenationalteam, who has alsobeeninvolved in a scandalsinceMarchformanipulatingballsthatcosthim a one-yearbanawayfromthe sport, wasnotenough to that he wasalsothe target of criticism. One of thecritics of themostrenownedsponsorshipis John Hempton, founder of Bronte Capital, a fundmanagementcompany. He responded to the tweet bysaying "I suggest Mr. Clark buysandpaper." This in reference to Smith'scontroversy, but he addedthat "Itwill do lessdamage" to hisreputation.
