Chinese Telecommunications join to implement blockchain technology in their infrastructures

The three largest telecommunications companies in Hong Kong; China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile plan to join together to use blockchain technology to improve operations and security in the industry, according to the Asia Times.

In a statement, the Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a research department under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry, Information and Technology, said that the 3 companies would have joined the Trusted Blockchain Iniaitive (G2).

Chinese telecommunication companies are considered the driving force behind the most important mobile telephony market in the world, and their medium and long-term plan will focus on the development and implementation of blockchain-based applications related to data sharing, the Internet of Things ( IoT) and identity verification. The idea is aimed at reducing operating costs and increasing the efficiency of the respective organizations.

According to the report, Huawei Technologies, the world's largest telecommunications equipment provider, would be in charge of the coalition formed by the companies.
