Starting today, Coinbase users in Australia and Europe will be able to use their funds in cryptocurrencies as gift certificates, the company announced in an official publication.

In an alliance with WeGift, the clients of the exchange office will be able to pay in stores like Nike, Tesco, Uber, Google Play, Ticketmaster, Zalando, among others in the region. In addition, users who purchase gift certificates will not pay commission and may enjoy extra bonuses when purchasing the certificates.

By converting bitcoins into Uber credits or ethers into purchases on Nike, customers will have more flexibility and control over the use of their cryptocurrencies. The service is available only in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Australia, and little by little more stores will be added to the list in the next three months. They will also seek to expand to other countries.

Zeeshan Feroz, executive director of Coinbase in the United Kingdom, said the new service places the house of exchange as the first platform in the industry to allow its customers to transfer funds directly with gift cards. He added that making the use, change and expense of cryptocurrencies easy is part of the company's efforts to improve the consumer experience.
