DAPP: ETH World Cup - For 2018 World Cup Betting

Hi,

This is my first post on this part of the forum. last time i posted about an ICO. not this time.

I love the style here, by the way. I mean the discussions are good quality. Plus i like the nice visual layout. simple. clean. exactly what i want.

Anyway, just thought I'd drop a mention of an Ethereum DAPP called Ether World Cup. Their site is at Ether World Cup 2018

The site also has a presence on email, twitter and Medium, for those who want to reach out to the developer.

The site is a single-purpose app that lets you bet ETH on the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches. I like that they're very focused on one thing. less distractions for me usually ends up with better results. plus, the DAPP takes a much smaller cut than traditional, centralized and non-transparent sports books. Which means, at the end of the day, when i win a bet on Ether World Cup, i get to keep more of it! :)

Anyway, I love seeing actual DAPPs being used with Ethereum and any other good cryptocurrency, really. It validates a significant portion of the big question of "will the market adopt this stuff?" to which i think the inevitable answer is a resounding "Yes". It will just probably be quite different than the way it is done today. so any steps towards that vision of a world enjoying crypto gaming, crypto healthcare, crypto education, or just about any other thing that could be improved with digital money, is a good thing.

Do the Amish gamble? Do they mine crypto manually with turn of the century tools? Does their decentralized network use horse and buggies to move data between nodes?

Kidding of course. ETH and gambling tokens could be huge. Don’t own any but it probably will be a growing markets. Do you think that single purpose tokens are the way to go though? I could see a more general gambling app using a token for multiple different bets having more appeal.

I think the Amish crypto farmer only has internet access every few weeks. Maybe during rumspringa only. Hasn’t been back since the OP.

And still hasn’t been back. Didn’t catch that when I replied the first time.

hi,

i have been away due to medical matters.

i don't know about you but i had nice wins this world cup! Vive la France!

BitFit maybe i did not make it clear: EWC did not issues its own tokens. it's a DAPP that uses ETH tokens. Yes, actual ethereum tokens. Not its own version of them. Not some weird cryptocurrency that has no use aside from that specific app.

That said, many single purpose tokens are actually quite impressive and yes, i hold a lot of different alt coins that are very limited in focus. that makes them much more useful to the people who use them, because the token solves a real world problem they otherwise have to deal with.

Sorry to hear this but glad you’re back. I like Ethereum and agree that some tokens will succeed as utility dapps with a purpose. Just not the hundreds out there now. Probably new ones will come along better than a lot of the current near scam coins out now.

Also sorry to hear about your medical matters. I didn’t realize it used just ETH. I pictured a token bought with ETH and then used for bets. Many apps will be built on Ethereum’s network. I don’t know if separate tokens are needed for everything. If you can bet with ETH or buy stuff with ETH, why does a token need to be created and sold at ICO?

It takes a community to raise a barn, but just one clumsy ass with a match to burn it to the ground. Sounds like crypto and the Amish have that in common.

heheh i like that analogy about the community and the clumsy person. very nice, BitFit.

Old Man Crypto i agree consolidation is inevitable. still, i get excited and share things i find that i like. seeing crypto grow is terrific. seeing the likes of EtherWorldCup and also Tombola among the offerings warms the cockles of my heart. my gambler's heart. and also my investor's mind.

Gambling will end up being a major winner for actual crypto use. Eliminating the bookies’ and casinos’ huge costs will drive this. Along with moving things out of control of regulators and to be able to bet worldwide no matter where you live.
