BitTorrent Inc, main company after uTorrent, confirmed its acquisition by the TRON Foundation, which would confirm previous reports and officially represent its transformation to a cryptocurrency startup.
The company of shared files would have previously confirmed the interest of Sun (founder of TRON) and although there would be details filtered in the networks, there would be no official confirmation of any of the parties involved until yesterday. "With this acquisition, BitTorrent will continue to offer its high quality services to more than 100 million users around the world. We believe that joining the TRON network will improve our performance and accelerate our mission to create an internet of options, not rules, "they added.
BitTorrent will keep its current line of work intact and will operate from the TRON offices in San Francisco from now on. Both teams will merge and plan to bring the underlying technology to TRON to new levels.
