Top 3 cryptocurrencies to invest in for May 2018
1. OmiseGo;
2. EOS;
3. Verge;

I prefer OmiseGo, because OmiseGo is one of the most prominet Chinese blockchain projects. It is a project backed by a team of blockchain experts including Ethereum chief, Vitalik Buterin and is aiming to solve some major financial challenges.

Their team is unstoppable. In Q1 alone, they had a number of successful releases, and the progress they made since launch has been amazing.

Which coin do you think will rise more in May?

I keep staring at Cardano (ADA) but I haven’t bought yet. Up 150% in last 3 weeks, I might buy if any weakness.

I did not know there were so many cryptocurrencies

Everyone hears about bitcoin and possibly Ethereum via mainstream media channels, but many are unaware that there are over 1200 cryptocurrencies and tokens. And the number grows each week.

The key is to research to determine which ones will actually be around in 2020 and beyond though. Many were created as money grabs and will never progress to a valuable project/product. In my opinion of course.

Verge seems to get pumped and then dumped quickly. I’m not sure it has long term potential even with the PornHub announcement.

Any thoughts on NEO as a new platform vs ETH? Anyone still holding NEM?

I still believe in bitcoin and ETH as investments, but it’s almost guessing to pick from all the others.

I do not have any thoughts about them. I will do more research about them and discuss them with you. :)

Or, can you explain them to us?

I own a small amount of NEM that I bought last June. I sold about half of my NEM in January. It seems promising but nothing is being built on it. Just the occasional announcement of network upgrade.

I own ETH which I do think will be useful going forward. I get that people call NEO the Chinese ETH, but it seems mostly hype at this point. I don’t own it, and I haven’t done enough research to know whether I should buy or just ignore it.

Stocks are an interesting contrast to crypto. The 25-40 demographic believes crypto will be a better way to invest going forward. That could be huge. When you “own” stocks, you mostly just have a number on a computer while the shares are “stored” at a brokerage. Most don’t vote. You can’t do anything with them except buy and sell. Disclaimer: I own stocks, I own mutual fund shares, and I own cryptos.

Cryptos could be different. Buy and sell but also use them. This could be a huge difference going forward after the scams are eliminated or mininmized. I think the 30 yr olds will look to crypto instead of stocks in the next 5-10 yrs.

I’m not sold on crypto replacing stocks any time soon. Co-exist certainly, but not a replacement. The problem with most cryptos is that they aren’t really a commercially viable product. Valuation methods need to be honed until there are some appropriate benchmarks on which to base price and market cap. Right now traders are setting prices, not products or revenue.

Despite all the newness and gee-whiz technology, there has to be an underlying revenue-producing function for a company to survive. Round 1 has been about releasing coins, round 2 will be about adopting real world uses that add value to the network and its nodes. Otherwise a coin has no worth.

I think you are right, young generations like cryptos now, it will continue when they become older. The financial world is changing.

There are many cryptocurrencies available in the crypto world like Bitcoin, Dash, Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Bitcoinlvx, Monero.
Bitcoin
Bitcoin is expected to become the primary store of value of the future especially for millennials since they’ll probably be betting more on Bitcoin rather than gold.

ETHEREUM
I believe that ETH has the Potential to be the cryptocurrency that overtakes Bitcoin as the number one cryptocurrency.

RIPPLE
Ripple is a cryptocurrency which has been increasingly adopted by banks and credit card companies as payment networks.

LITECOIN
It is considered silver, just as bitcoin is considered gold. LTC is faster and cheaper than BTC. Hence I expect this coin to be used and adopted as a primary source of rapid and efficient payment.

BITCOINLVX
Bitcoin Lvx is a Euro-pegged cryptocurrency that provides payments, exchanges, and remittance.

Its mission is to make Bitcoin spendable by scaling block size for faster transactions with capped fees, to minimize coin volatility and to return to CPU-based and energy-efficient mining.

MONERO
XMR is known as the primary choice coin which can be used to effectively hide your money. It is secure, private, untraceable and fungible.

DASH
Dash is a Cryptocurrency which was developed to do instant and private transactions. It is a decentralized and autonomous Cryptocurrency which is not controlled by any private organization.
